We’ve compiled some tips and resources to support the media to work more effectively with young people and ensure their stories are told respectfully.

Our Youth Media Centre has been in operation for almost two years. In this time, we’ve learned a lot about how to work effectively with young people sharing their lived experiences.

Drawing on this experience we’ve pulled together a guide and practical checklist on how to work with young people to tell great, impactful stories from interview to publication. This guide draws on learnings from supporting participants in the Youth Media Centre and insights from eight young advocates from across the country.

FYA’s Youth Media Centre supports more than 150 young advocates to use the media as a tool to drive change, and to ensure that stories and narratives told about young people authentically include their lived experiences and perspectives.

Email us at youthmedia@fya.org.au if you’re looking for a young person to comment on a story you’re preparing, and we can do our best to put you in touch.
